Award of Excellence: VILLAGE Hearing the Grass Grow

VILLAGE Hearing the Grass Grow is a 23-year project showing rural life in a time of mass migration to cities globally. The photography book with text chronicles factors contributing to rural depopulation – climate change, conflict, globalisation. It records production of goods through agriculture and mining. Subsistence livelihoods and cultural events are shown. The photography book records this pivotal time in world history by examining discrete phenomena within an overarching narrative of exodus.
